Assessing performance and contributing to national standards for residential methane detectors

GTI Energy is providing technical input to help establish nationally recognized standards for residential methane detectors (RMDs) after completing a major field testing program to evaluate performance of off-the-shelf detectors in a variety of residential settings. The testing and benchmarking provided a better understanding of accuracy of detection levels, airborne chemical interference, and hurdles to home deployment. Results have led to their incorporation into existing safety programs to add another layer of protection for the detection of leaks.
