GTI Energy Launches SUSTAIN H₂ to Accelerate Underground Hydrogen Storage Development

Today, GTI Energy introduced SUSTAIN H₂ , a new collaboration designed to fast-track the deployment of underground hydrogen storage (UHS) technologies. This effort will bring together researchers, policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to bridge the critical gap between hydrogen storage research and application.

Hydrogen has the potential to revolutionize energy storage by converting surplus renewable energy, such as wind and solar into hydrogen, and providing large-scale, long-duration storage solutions. Stored hydrogen can be utilized for a variety of demand applications, from transportation to industrial use, or blended with natural gas using existing pipeline networks. Effective implementation of a hydrogen economy will hinge on the development of large-scale, low-cost storage solutions, which will ensure uninterrupted, affordable, and secure energy.
