Preparing Syngas and Bio-Synthetic Natural Gas for Assessment
GTI Energy is generating large quantities of bio-syngas and bio-SNG from biomass waste for assessment of potential health risks associated with commercial production and use of these gases.
Using three distinct types of biomass from California, GTI Energy is preparing samples using a bench-scale gasification test unit with integrated cleaning and methanation assets to mimic the conventional gasification-methanation process. The gases will be studied at University of California—Davis on behalf of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) to generate data that will be used to make future recommendations regarding the health hazards associated with exposure to carbon monoxide and the constituents of concern in commercially produced bio-SNG.
